2011 was a year of investing and building for Panasas as we prepared for continued success in the coming year. I want to take the time, before the year winds down to thank our employees, our partners, and most importantly our customers for a great 2011 and in so doing, I would like to remind all of us of some of our 2011 highlights:
In March we moved into our new corporate headquarters in Sunnyvale California and began to immediately execute on our 2011 hiring plans. We expanded the Panasas team by over 50% in core areas such as engineering and sales. The momentum will continue into 2012 as we continue to look for great talent around the world.
We launched our new corporate website making it easier for users to find information about our company, products, markets, and technologies. We have an active company blog – which is giving me this forum to reminisce. Please subscribe to it in order to get a deeper understanding of our products, technologies, and all that we do.
On the sales front, we worked hard to strengthen our global sales teams and made significant inroads into European markets . In addition we announced an expanded partner program and introduced a new online partner portal which will help our global partners more effectively sell Panasas.
On the product front, research and analyst firm, Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG), validated the linearly scaling performance and ease of scale-out and management of our flagship product, ActiveStor 12. In June we announced ActiveStor 11 which delivers a new level of cost effectiveness for a variety of big data markets focused on design and discovery. Finally, we moved closer to the realization of pNFS – an industry standard first authored by Panasas - with its adoption into the Linux Kernel (versions 2.6.39, 3.0, 3.1 and 3.2). This new standard is poised to change the storage industry.
Panasas was recognized on several levels this last year. Together with our customer, the University of Leicester, we won “Cloud Project of the Year” at this year’s Storage, Virtualization, and Cloud (SVC) awards in London. The award recognizes the university’s implementation of its private cloud utilizing Panasas ActiveStor high performance parallel storage. Finally our own Garth Gibson, founder and CTO of Panasas was given a SIGOPS Hall of Fame Award for his ground breaking work with RAID technology.
This great year of accomplishments would not have been possible without the continued support and feedback from our customers and partners who deploy our products into some of the world’s most demanding and critical applications. It’s been a great year on so many levels and it’s only the beginning!
See you next year.
