THE PANASAS COLLECTIVE | OCTOBER 2022
Hi there!
Welcome back to the Panasas® Collective! We’re incredibly excited to announce the general availability of our new storage systems powered by the latest 9.2 release of the PanFS® data engine. Three Panasas ActiveStor® solutions are now driving innovation across a wider range of high-performance data environments in life sciences, manufacturing, financial services, academic research, and more.
We’re also sharing the latest insights from our leadership team on tackling challenges in AI and HPC data management. Beyond that, Panasas continues to grow, and we’re pleased to welcome another member to our team.
Read on for more details, and we hope to speak with many of you at HPC + AI Wall Street and SC‘22!
We’re proud to announce the general availability of our all-NVMe ActiveStor® Flash and massive-capacity ActiveStor® Ultra XL storage systems.
Together with our hybrid ActiveStor® Ultra system, these new storage solutions are powered by the PanFS data engine and engineered to accelerate converging HPC, HPDA, and AI workloads.
For more details, read the full press release here.
In this brief infographic, we break down four major IT challenges life sciences organizations are facing today and show how the simplicity, versatility, and reliability of Panasas storage solves them.
Check out the quick guide here.
We’re pleased to introduce Keith Mannthey, Manager, Solutions Architect and Performance Benchmarking at Panasas.
Keith’s first 10 years in the industry were spent at IBM working on Linux kernel development, and his last 10 have been at Intel, where he was a Lustre Solution Architect and technical owner of 2 Intel Select Solutions (HPC/AI and Genomics). Keith currently lives in Portland, Oregon with his wife and 2 sons, and he enjoys hiking, swimming, and running.
Adam Marko, Director of Life Science Solutions at Panasas, shines a light on two common models of data management that stand in the way of scientific progress: “Distribute and Delete” and data silos.
“Both practices not only waste time and money, but more importantly, they hinder research collaboration and undermine AI/ML initiatives by diminishing the value of organizations’ most vital assets – their data.”
To learn how organizations can move beyond them, read Adam’s article over at Bio-IT World here.
Richio Aikawa, our Senior Director of Strategic Marketing, explores the impact of AI biases, the need for comprehensive mitigation strategies, and how we could soon leverage the very technology that we are diagnosing with the problem to help us find new solutions.
“It is encouraging that the road to ethical AI is paved with multiple bias mitigation strategies and these emerging technological approaches. As we learn more about how effective those new AI tools will be, I am reminded that their development also depends on the innovations occurring in software and hardware infrastructure.”
