Panasas Awarded Computerworld Innovative Technology Award

Panasas ActiveScale Storage Cluster Recognized Among Top Innovative Technologies

FREMONT, Calif. — September 20, 2004 — Panasas, Inc., the leader in scalable network storage for Linux clusters, today announced that it has been awarded an annual Computerworld Innovative Technology Award. The Panasas ActiveScale Storage Cluster was identified for its ability to simplify manageability and boosted performance for scalable Linux clusters at leading organizations in industries ranging from government research to oil and gas exploration to media and entertainment.

"We are honored to receive this award, as it is a reflection of the value our customers have received from the Panasas Storage Cluster," said Victor Perez, president and CEO of Panasas. "Our customers realize that providing a storage solution tailored for Linux maximizes the capabilities of their cluster computing environment."

"Our award winners this year should be recognized for creating products that truly are revolutionary for their customers," said Don Tennant, editor in chief of Computerworld. "These companies have not only developed 'cool' products, but ones that solve real business problems and have produced measurable pay back for customers."

The Panasas ActiveScale Storage Cluster is the premier storage system for scalable Linux clusters. Built on an object-based storage clustering architecture, Panasas delivers exceptional scaling in capacity and performance while extending appliance-like ease of management. It is the first storage system optimized for Linux cluster computing environments.

The Innovative Technology Awards program is conducted annually by IDG's Computerworld, the Voice of IT Management. The awards honor leading-edge technology that provides measurable business value to end-user organizations. Vendors are nominated for consideration by information technology end users that do not produce or sell technology. Nominees for the awards are then surveyed about their technology innovations, and a panel of outside experts and Computerworld editors reviews the surveys and chooses 30 winners in 12 categories.
