The console operates with the simplicity of an appliance, while supporting sophisticated administration, management, and reporting capabilities.
Panasas Install Wizard
The Panasas Install Wizard helps you set up your Storage Cluster in seven simple steps. In fact, it takes as little as 45 minutes to install the software and get the system running. And once you are set up, adding new blades is easy. You physically slide blades into the shelf and watch the console as the system automatically provisions them without disruption to users or applications. No partition re-sizing, RAID group update, or volume changes are necessary.
PanActive Manager
PanActive Manager is designed to proactively display all critical system information and allow quick navigation to make any alterations. Through the "System-At-A-Glance" page, users can view a range of status details on the system. This includes overall system state, error messages, capacity and disk utilization, throughput and response time. From this page, administrators have one-click access to more detailed information including system status, volume management and reporting.
The PanActive Manager allows administrators to tailor configurations by dividing them into virtual volumes that can be assigned with quotas to certain projects, users, or applications. These volumes are extremely easy to create, assign privileges and manage. However, if preferred, you can create one volume for the entire system.
PanActive Manager offers key statistics on all metrics, such as disk utilization and throughput, to allow you to always gauge capacity needs and system performance. If for any reason the system is not meeting expectations, a notification system alerts you via email, phone or pager.
Customers can also enable PanActive Link, a phone-home feature that notifies both Panasas and your system administrators of critical issues to allow preventive maintenance to occur.
