As one of the largest HPC events in the world, the Supercomputing Conference (SC13) draws attendees from a wide variety of industries. We took advantage of the opportunity to meet with many existing and prospective customers in academia, manufacturing, government, life sciences and energy and came away with great feedback about our products and the kinds of technology companies are prioritizing for their big data workloads.
I was very pleased to hear so many compliments from customers about the high quality and reliability of their Panasas ActiveStor systems, something that was made possible by increased Panasas Engineering investment in ruggedizing the file system over the last couple of years. Most are looking to add to their current deployments in 2014. A key player at a significant university we met with said, “We’re very happy with how resilient Panasas solutions are. We have never seen a system perform so well at so many different workloads simultaneously.” Our world-class support team also received many kudos for their responsiveness and for providing an extremely high level of support. It’s good to be reminded of the importance of the partnerships we strive to have with all of our customers – more features are great, but in the end they’re not nearly as important as the quality of the product or the quality of the service you deliver. While no company is perfect on that front, we definitely make every effort and I felt that that was widely recognized in our meetings at the show.
It is also clear that the use of technical computing products and workflows is continuing to expand in the enterprise and we welcome the broadening of the definition of HPC. As a result, we are seeing requests for features that help bridge the gap between traditional HPC and enterprise computing. Our 2014 product roadmap was very well received toward that end. One government customer even said, “We’re very pleased to see so much innovation coming from Panasas. We’ve attended many roadmap sessions recently where your competitors are still working on bringing out features that Panasas has had for years.”
So keep an eye out for innovative new developments from Panasas in 2014. We’re looking forward to sharing more with you in the new year!
