Big Data Means Competitive Advantage

Big data—the use of data to extract business value—is a phenomenon that is here to stay. Dr. Garth Gibson, Panasas co-founder and CTO, describes how big data drives competitive advantage for those organizations that use their data to fuel their design and discovery efforts. He points out that while big data has traditionally been the backbone of discovery in the national laboratories, it is now spreading to commercial environments in the energy, science, finance, and manufacturing fields, and that what is HPC today will be mainstream technology in short order.
